Kevin Mauzy is the Republican candidate For Harris County Clerk. Current Harris County Clerk Beverly Kaufman, has announced her plans not to seek reelection opening the race. Mauzy is the best-qualified candidate to fill the position.
Mauzy, a native Houstonian graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. in Political Science. He attended South Texas College of Law and began his employment with the Harris County Clerk in 1981 and has served as Assistant Director and Director of the Information and Public Service Department, Director of the Commissioners Court Department, Administrator of Courts and Human Resources, and currently Chief Deputy.
Mauzy is a member of the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials, and Clerks (NACRC); co-chair of the Clerk to Board Committee of NACRC, former member of the Property Records Industry Association, County Judge’s appointee to the Harris County Grievance Committee, and member of the Harris County Justice Management Committee.
Active in the community, Mauzy is a Life Member of the University of Houston Alumni Association, member of the Arlington Heights Civic Club, and past member and Vice-President of the South Houston High School Band Booster Club.
Mauzy is a long-time Republican, volunteer in the campaigns of County Clerk Beverly Kaufman, and a member of the Downtown Houston Pachyderm Club.
Mauzy believes the purpose of government is to serve its citizens by providing essential services in an efficient, cost-effective manner utilizing advancements in technology to increase accessibility and reduce the costs of services while protecting personal information citizens entrust in their government.
Mauzy and his wife, Olga, have two grown children and one grandchild. He is a member of First Methodist Church.
